July 17th – Here’s What’s Happening at Sango UMC |
A note from Ginny… Thursday, August 6th is an Election Day. Ginny will be out of the office due to working at one of the polling sites. Announcement It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Tom Morgan. We received a communication from Cindy Pack asking us to let the church family know of her father’s passing. A private graveside service for the family will be held in Dickson, and a Celebration of Life Service will be scheduled for a later date. Let us join as the Sango UMC Family and lift all of those who knew and loved Tom in prayer. Let us show them our love and support during this difficult time. WORSHIP NEWS!!! This Sunday, July 19th, the Traditional Service will move back into the Sanctuary!! The Contemporary Service will continue as usual in the CLC. Both In-House Services will use the same protocol as set forth when in-house services began… Please Remember… 1. Enter through the glass doors and please wear a mask. Your temperature will be taken as you enter, and your hands sanitized. 2. All family members should stay together. 3. Restrooms should be used only in an emergency. 4. There will be no nursery services or children’s church at this time. Watch Sango on YouTube You can now find many of our recorded videos on the Sango United Methodist Church YouTube channel, in addition to our Facebook page. Just go to youtube.com and search for Sango United Methodist Church and you’ll see them. We have videos of both Traditional and Contemporary worship services from the past few months, along with some Wednesday night Bible Study videos and some “Debbie at the Piano” videos. We even have a video of the church chimes ringing on Easter morning back in March. Enjoy the channel, and help others find the channel by sharing a link to it on your social media accounts. We can spread the Word of God through videos like this, with your help. Volunteers are Needed… Volunteers are needed to help with the logistics of our new In-House Worship Services. We need people at the entry doors spraying hands, 2 people taking temperatures, people making sure that masks are available, people helping in the parking lot, and people helping to direct worshipers to their seats, etc… All-in-all, we need approximately 10 or more volunteers for each service. If you would be willing to help out with the Traditional Service, please contact Cindy Chilcott (Worship Chairperson-Traditional) @ 716-969-4884. If you would be willing to help out with the Contemporary Service, please contact DeDe Hausmann (Worship Chairperson-Contemporary) @ 574-276-6699. You may also contact the church office by email or phone if you would like to volunteer. AA Meetings have been moved temporarily to the Fellowship Hall in the main building since we are restricting use of the CLC to worship only. We ask that all others NOT enter the fellowship hall during AA meetings, so that attendees can maintain their privacy. There are now signs on the kitchen door and glass front doors that list the times of the meetings and that ask people who are not attending to stay out. The days/times are Mondays 6-8 pm, Tuesdays 6-8 pm, and Fridays 6-7 pm. Please do not enter the fellowship hall during these times, even if you are just “passing through” to another part of the building. Thank you for your support of this new policy for an important and vital ministry to our community. Upper Room The Upper Rooms for July/August have arrived. They are located on the table just inside the glass doors of the church, if you would like to stop by and pick one up. I will also place some in the CLC before Sunday services. Thoughts for Today… Good Morning Sango!!! It is Friday morning and I am in the healing process from my carpal tunnel surgery on Wednesday. The surgery was on my dominant hand (my left), so writing and typing are just a little awkward right now. Today’s message may be a little short… My thoughts today are on being grateful to family and loved ones who take such good care of me when I have difficulties, and also being grateful to God for blessing me with such a wonderful family and such wonderful friends. It seems that saying Thank You is really just not enough. But, I guess my sister-in-law who drove me to surgery and waited patiently in the car to drive me back home put it the best…she said, “Ginny, you would have done the same for me.” And she was right, I would do the same for someone who needed the help. Anyway, I want to say thank you to everyone who has called or texted me to check on my recovery…each of you is a blessing in my life and I not only thank you, but I thank God every day for bringing me to Sango UMC! A scripture about being thankful… Ephesians 1: 16″I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers .” Philippians 1: 3 “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.” My offering for today… The Blessing that is You! I said a little prayer today To thank the Lord for you For the person that you are For the wonderful things you do I thank my Heavenly Father For the blessing that He gave When first He led me to you It was such an awesome day Your Christian heart is evident In the love you show to all God’s light reflected through you Is a beacon of His call You touch so may lives Through your willingness to give All are blessed around you Simply because you live At times someone may ask Where is God today He’s obviously within my friend I can confidently say So I lift this simple prayer A few words of gratitude For the blessings that you share For the person that is you! Ginny Ellis-July 2020 A Message from the Building Committee… The Building Committee met on June 6th. Due to the Coronavirus and other events, the committee has decided to delay the Youth Building Project until August 29th. At that time, the committee will make a decision as to how to move forward with the project. CLC CONFERENCE ROOM RENOVATION Phase 1 is complete!
